Kia ora TeamCongratulations to the three members who have been doing it for the team since competition began- awesome work. Some huge changes for two other members also and I'm certain it won't be long before they join you three. Only a month to go now so come on Team - lets give it heaps - a huge effort needed to cross that line in front - it can be done. My tip of the week - started a gym membership so I have another avenue to vent frustrations lol......Kiaora Les Mills! Better than resorting to ciggies and the other benefits are fitter, healthier, food tastes better and my clothes and hair smell nicer. I am really beginning to wonder why I started the habit. Kia kaha whanau - persistence is the key :-)

Morena Pridelanders.Awesome start Mara, Sophia & Ange and great support of each other. Keep it up and if anyone needs more patches, gum etc please let me know via this page or Marigold but get in touch before you run out. Be good if we could get together at regular intervals as part of that group support and also to look at other aids- however understand that it is not suitable for everyone. An awesome kaupapa at the marae with the cross fit training once a week -can tag that to your journey as well as some are already doing. Have a look at the tips and tricks above. And encourage everyone to get on here and blog...apart from sharing their journey- the good / not so or to be encouraged from others it is another opportunity to win some mulla. Lets go Pridelanders....you can do it.

This is certainly no walk in the park how ever slowing down has been harder than jus giving up cold turkey...Even thought the erge is still there & the temptation lingers & you do give in at times it is the beginning of something great..Kia Kaha Pridelanders xxx

Good on you Ange. I still don't drink coffee - smoking and coffee just went so hand in hand. No loss for the health and fitness I gained. Whatever it takes ne.

Yay, 2 weeks and smoke free - had to get rid of the morning crave for coffee so in order to give up smoking, I had to give up the coffee first. Sounds strange but it worked for me as now, mentally I dont need the coffee and ciggie first thing in the morning. Good luck team, its easy once you get past the first day!

Great headstart Pridelanders - now that the comp has actually started Beep will be able to update your status after she's checked in with you each week. Also, if you post on the website here how you're going, we can also update status from that. I see that Mara got off the line pretty quick, Ange had started Champix, Sophia had started early and Millz was in there too - let me know how things are going and I'll update your waka. Hey team. Hw z everyone gng if u hav already started to quit I think its nice to reward yourself each week for not smoking. Facials hair done nails pedicure or massage just a little somethng. Hope everyone z drinkn lots of water. Well dun team keep it up

Kia ora Sophia. You're on the right track. Don't beat up on yourself, you've got 3 months and in that time there may be the odd occasion when the cravings beat you. Kei te pai, just stop again immediately. Aim for not even a puff and keep going. Of course using the gum instead is an excellent strategy.

Kia Ora to my Pridelanders. On Tuesday the 18th of February 2014, for the first time in 17 years, I didnt buy a pack of smokes!!!!! I woke up on Tuesday and I have to admit I soo wanted a smoke, BUT I didnt as I went through the day the erge got greater, so I had one smoke, after that I felt like I had faled....I went to see Mara P and had a good and inspiring chat and she gave me some chewing gum to put me back on track again, since then I have not touched a smoke and it is now been 4 days of no smoking and many more to come. I would like to take the time to thank Mara P for checking up on me and keeping me on the waka, NGA MIHI GURL....

hey pridelanders!!! i cant log into our page so il js write comments through this.... iv started the quit smoking already im upto day four! I actually blew the most out of all of us down the marae so im hoping this will be an inspiration to encourage us all. sunday night at about 8.30pm thea was a documentry on maori tv it was called " dying for a smoke" and yes they were DYING for a smoke!!! if you go on tvnz on demand maybe you caan watch it on thea? iv been chewing the gum, and yep i think its helping me. so far i feel CLEAN i smell nice, my clothes smell nice, and i have alot more time on my hands to do things. my breath, hands nd hair doesnt stink its a nice feeling so iv had facials nd my nails done as a reward. iv remained doing exacting the same routine in my life just taking away the stinken cigirettes iv left the ashtry to remind me of how disgusting it is "the state of it" haha. if a smoker is around i dont run and hide becoz i like to remind myself how stink it is and wat an unattractive look it z esecially with women. hoping this myt help my team members kia kaha whanau we controll the smoke the smoke DOESNT CONTROLL US!!!
